Assume u calculate a 3 yrs old car he own, if he sell his car now, the car price will not break even with his outstanding loan. He will have to fork out a sum to repay his loan to sell his car. :D

A lot of my friends are stucked with the same situation. Esp for brand new car with 10 yrs loan n very min down payment. They L L have to pay the mthly loan n not sell the car now.

hahaha the worst part is after the divorce....the cost you have to pay especially for ther lawyer...knn all inflated...and the worst part is i only have one daughter but still pay thousand over for her maintenance and alimony just becos ex wife inflated all her expenses and also suay suay just before that my biz was doing quite ok...but then after everything went down the drain for me...introduce a trusted friend to invest in some biz and then together dump in half a mil but discovered the other party was a con man...lucky friend did not blame me...

I do owe a japanese car made in Thailand which now worthless bcos of Thais ...

Petrol cost going up, loan to pay, roadtax, electric and water bills, parnets allowance (This is one no matter how poor I am need to give) , children education, utliities and Town councul bills, insurance, food, all this add up to at least $3K to $4K ... not to say our own expense ...

It is tough though I am lucky i have a job to keep to maintain my current lifestyle but do not know for how long. The only thing I can do is accuma=ulate cash for at least 2 years cash rich to maintain this kind of life style.

Just live to our limitation is my advise. I used to have only $300+++ during NS time but I survive. The more you earn the more you spend. Those family with 3 children and income of less than $1K still live happily.

Just spend wisely and know that we should wear the hat to our size of our head.

If you give up noe no one inculding god can help u, but if you do not give up people will notice and help u along the way.

Haha u r rite but also during that time I managed to see thru a lot of my friends. I remember once I needed S$1K to settle some personal pro, I asked many many friends but all refused.

At that time it was in '97 or '98, trust me to a lot of young adult who juz started working that is a lot of money. During that time I have no choice but to borrow from an Ah Long who happens to be my friend too.

I told him I needed S$1K and how much interest, he told me to meet and talk not too good to talk on the phone. I met him in Bukit Panjang (Famous guy I think alot of people knows who I refering to noe), guess what he told me??

The interest rate is first month a bowl of Wanton Mee, second month Hor Fun , third month Hokkien mee and anything more than that Kopi.

I took 1/2 year to repay back as that time too many pros, he nvr pestered me once to repay. Alot of years later we r good friends and I know he will not look me down when I fell.

This friends are hard to come by and even harder when I am now posted overseas. But with my current situation now I can tell all that standing up today is because alot of my friends choose to support me rather than turn their back on me. As now it is my turn to return the favour (he is getting married in Dec) , I have decided to decicate this post to him and a big big Hong Bao coming his way.

Haha I do not mind making more friends BUT only friends who help themselves. I have a gf the last time round and man she is a off loader till today cannot sercue a job (she is quite old and longest job is 1 year).

I agree with Harrier on his views, I too was once poor fuck earning S$800 a month (B4 CPF). Today I manage to climb back on track but not goin to disclose the sum.

Haha u r rite but also during that time I managed to see thru a lot of my friends. I remember once I needed S$1K to settle some personal pro, I asked many many friends but all refused.

At that time it was in '97 or '98, trust me to a lot of young adult who juz started working that is a lot of money. During that time I have no choice but to borrow from an Ah Long who happens to be my friend too.

I told him I needed S$1K and how much interest, he told me to meet and talk not too good to talk on the phone. I met him in Bukit Panjang (Famous guy I think alot of people knows who I refering to noe), guess what he told me??

The interest rate is first month a bowl of Wanton Mee, second month Hor Fun , third month Hokkien mee and anything more than that Kopi.

I took 1/2 year to repay back as that time too many pros, he nvr pestered me once to repay. Alot of years later we r good friends and I know he will not look me down when I fell.

This friends are hard to come by and even harder when I am now posted overseas. But with my current situation now I can tell all that standing up today is because alot of my friends choose to support me rather than turn their back on me. As now it is my turn to return the favour (he is getting married in Dec) , I have decided to decicate this post to him and a big big Hong Bao coming his way.

Life has its UPs & Downs. The most important thing is not to give up. Sometimes bad times are a blessing in disguise and a bridge to better times.

I thought it was the end of the world when I went inside in 1997. Lost everything... family, friends, career, property & assets confiscated, forced into bankruptcy. Really wanted to join my ancestors then but managed to tahan the bad times. Soon the time passed and I got out after 20 months inside.

During my bad times....
a) found out who real friends were
b) met some brudders in same boat (later to change my life)
c) "saw" through family ties (the wife was the worst)

After my release......

I am also going through a rut, and juz duno when will b bankrupt, growing old doing odd jobs (if there's any even), failure in relations, etc..... it's juz a matter of time. Everyday seems depressing, but it appears that they don't let you go easily. Always a ray of hope, to see that at the end of it, the color is black (hopeless).

There are people out there that takes advantage of you, well mayb you will find peace if you forgive them, and remember not to be generous and kind anymore. And everyday you hope and pray for divine intervention to open a door of opportunities, or a person who will give you a lift at the opportune time, hope it's isn't too late by then ......

We work hard to pay off our vehicles' loans, Housing loans, PUB bills, Electricity bills plus many other bills that need to be settle every month.

At the end of the day after all the bills are paid, there is little $ left for ourselves.

In order to survive here, some of us needs to hold 2 jobs. Some of us are lucky that we can earn a 5 digit figure salary but most of us has to make do with a 1K or 2K+ salary.

U need so much time to pay back your debt ?? why dun u ask the bank to declare u bankcrupt ?? or self-declare bankcrupt ? what is your monthly salary ? if u are a bankcrupt, u only need to pay off a percentage of the debt and u may get dischange after 3 years with good performance .............

That was really bad, how much is the fine anyway, i was in for some stupid era fine which they multiply to about 10k (alot of summons of cos)..got warrent of arrest also... Court sentence me to 50 days and after the deduction of public holidays and sat, sun..it was being reduce to 31, 32 days (cant rem)...30+ days for 10k...i decided not to pay and with a postive mindset i treat it as a vacation and also a break from work but of cos i will advise you yo plead for instalment plan with the court.. they should be able to do that if you are not under warrent of arrest..

1. My line of work is in management (operations/business development/general), if I ever get bankrupt, no hope at all to get a job cos company will never ever hire a bankrupt as manager. Even if after discharged, the record is there n I realized that a no. of company application form does enquire if u have ever been bankrupt b4. BTW, currently, me is jobless.

2. My debts, as mentioned, consists of personal loans from frens, relatives n family. These personal debts, i intend to pay in full, even upon my death, as I feel that I'm not a bastard, how can I sabo those who help me during my bad time. Thus, declaring bankrupt dun serve the purpose for this part.

At the end of 3-5 years u will be discharged, and does not matter if u manage to pay up everything. Everytime I travel out of country, I will leave a note in a sealed envelope n tell my parents to open it if anything happen to me. Inside is a list of all the ppl that i owe to n the amt, n instruction is given that priority is to pay them wif my insurance $$.

Cheer up guys, the job market is picking up. Once china is in trouble over WTO issues & their currency under value by 40% & forced to revalue up. Most biz with be back to ASEAN cos cheaper. I myself just got a job after 2 yrs after dept shutdown & forced to leave. And I was very down for last 2 darkest part of my life, went to so many interview with no offer finally got offer with 20% pay cut. At times feel like jumping down like one of my block resident over money problem. Only recently, for the last six months there are really jobs in the market. Guys don't give up hope, take a pay cut & hope for a better tomorrow.
With tearssss... for those who are not out of the woods yet.

i have been in the cage before due to fines and summon but im still holding a ok paid , mid management job now earning close to 5k since im release. guess im one of the lucky one, the most impt thing is to be honest and frank to yr employer when doing interview (no doubt some company will not accept the fact that u are in the cage before) ..

its normal for pple now to be in the cage for fines , summons, town council overdue payment..etc...i have personally meet a lot of this type of pple in the cage . Sometime i wonder what the government is thinking...maybe they have alot of spare room in QRP ..knn

yr fine amount is small and the advise i can give is to look for the MP from yr area to write a letter to the organization that issue u the summon (URA, HDB...etc) and tell them to compound the case out of court.. usually, it will be easier for u to plead for instalment plan with the ura , hdb then in court as the court fine will be much higher and also the court will required u to pay at least 50% of the fine amount and the bal 50% settle by 2 or 3 instalment..

Im unable to seek for MP help due to im being warrant arrest and was bought to court immediately..knn..never even give me time to appeal.. :mad:

I recieved a PM from 1 of the bros here and he is asking for some advice on how I did it. A lot of people who knows me in international forum know how tough my life was when I did my first step into China.

Been a N level drop out I kinda believe it sealed my fate as a failure, I was in Bukit Merah ITE, during the first year a big fight forced me to quit school and hang my head in shame.

I was the worst kid in Bukit Ba+++, also leading a gang collecting debts as ah long and shit like that. I tell u that was the worst time of my life. My dad wants to disown me and my whole family is breaking apart because of me, until I was saved by a same surname same name person. Irony life I tell u.....

EC was my friend during that time, he is short whereas I am tall, he is smart whereas I am stuipd. Everything is vice versa for me and him,. He decided to coach me on my English and tell me what is good for myself, I begin to change.

I got my first job as a bartender and he visited me freuquetly togather with that ah long friend of mine (Before NS). They will calm me down when I am mad (I will do anything to get my hand on any idiot that provode me), they advise me on everything.

For this job what I learn? I learnt that there are strange people out there, it is not their fault to be strange so don't blame them. When people say u r wrong just accept it, think about it and then remeby it. Always respect people in regardless of who they r, u nvr know....

Life isn't hard when u based everything on challenges, u think Lee Ka Sing (HK Tyoon) never got ups and downs? Wrong I tell u... Yes as a mechanic, I repair cars with pride and solid car like Merc, BMW, Mini and stuff like that. My next job repairing of Porsche, yes with Suttgaurd Atuo. I met a lot of boss fig and noticed how they react, how they question people, how they post their air and what they wants.

I learn too again, like I say learn nothing wrong with learning just don say F**K I CANNOT DO IT. I always tell my stuff here in China, if u cannot do it I will replace u because a lot of people can do it. Positive is all it is about.

I got my next job (within 2 year I change a total of 3 jobs), require me to be a IT engineer but I know nuts about IT. They way I put it is I know, but the actual fact I don. I am employed through a little clever plan of mine.

1 year into the job I fought very hard to climb, I nvr back stab so that gives me plus in everyones book. End of the day I am 1 of the engineer posted to Microsoft Training in Orchard forgot where already, I make my mark my dad is impress by me and start to forgive me bit by bit.

I was then retenrched but I found a new job in less than a week, higher pay and better benifit. I told myself no fish srimp also can, but I landed into another new place. The spirit of nvr give up is working. I was in the manager level after trying for 1 year and during that time I managed to sercure alot of business, personal business.

Like I say u might ask what is good for yourself, I don know. U must ask urself what u r good in and what u r not, I am not a god but am just a advisor to all the situation here.

If u r not good at where juz change it, don say u don know. How I managed to climb all the way to the Manager with juz a N Level Cert?? I try my best in everything, if u cannot do it the best then don do it, u r creating more shit for people to clear then. Work smart not hard. My pool of worker will die for me if they need to y?? I treat them as human being and only then will they respect me. RESPECT MY FRIEND IS EARNED NOT HAMMERED.

I am posted to China just last year, I nearly gave up and return to Singapore. But I persist knowing that this land is filled with oppurunity, I heard from my friend Roanldo in the international forum.

I will now tell u the method....

1) Never admit lost until u have found no way.
2) Never say that you are good because there r people who r better.
3) Never stop learning.
4) Never say that life sucks because it have not.
5) When u r down to the bottom the only way out is to go up.
6) Everything is life exprience, do not look down on people.

My motto to survive is u need to have good friends and only good friends are the ones to support u. I learnt how people work and correct their mistake to make their merit into mine. I try to mingle around with people and change my habit from time to time.

Life is not all about money but rather investment, if u r willing to look beyond the line you have reached ur goal by half. I have lots of friends who cannot cross the barrier, they do not know how to invest in friends.

Just want to share what I have experienced during 1 of my "downtime". I was in complete different scenario unlike Bro Oak. Throughout my life, I was blessed with reasonable upbringing.Not fantastic but good enough for me to complete my school education. Life was a breeze and I managed to find a decent job as a marketing executive after my army days. With a supportive management behind me, I managed to rose quite fast and rolling in all these $$$ into my bank account. As big-headed 25yrs old young chap, I was disorientated in my life with all these sudden "perks" which I dont handle quite well. I spent tons of $$$ on boozing, woman, friends etc. I dont give a hoot about anything in my life and to me..Life is just a party and the party never ends for me.Definately and surely, I"m into troubles for such irresponsible act which I felt it's so unfair for my beloved wife, family and all the people who loved me.

Slowly, alcohol started to take over my life, my soul and everything I have built up for myself and my love ones at home.

Sometime this year, I was caught drink-drinking while making my way back home. I was so intoxicated that I did not know how bad it was until the next following day. I was in completed daze when things started to settle in.What should I do now without a valid driving license for work??Why I"m in such a state which I should have know long ago??Lots of Whys..whys..and more whys...

I was very lucky that I still have my supportive wife who standby me despite all these silly troubles I"m in. I'm really stupid for my act that causes so much troubles & agony for myself and all the people who loves me. I regretted till this very day which I think I could avoided if I"m given a 2nd chance. Despite this respite, I tell myself I MUST moved on and stop dwelling in the problems itself. Nobody will give you a 2nd chance and tell a hoot about how you should live your life. You must standup, think for yourself, move on and dont repeat the same mistake again. We all go through trails & tribulations in life. It's just 1 chapter of unhappiness in our life that we need to learn and master before we close it.

I will tell them it is not that I am lucky, it is just that I managed to cruise my way out of problems. My friends used to tell me if money can solve the problem it is no longer a problem. I agree with him, I think it is the best way to solve pro without me cracking my head.

I don use money to solve all my pro but rather sincerely to solve, I got into a accident in 2004 Chinese New Year. My car flipped from oncoming to incoming lane, end of the day I still climbed out. I tell u I spent so much buying that Lancer of mine (2005 edition) and less than 6 months it flipped, during that time I told myself luckily I have no pro otherwise how much more money also cannot buy me back.

I read this statment somewhere b4 and I will share it with u guys,

Where got? Haha but it is indeed shitty here in China, now in my new company doing some check list and preparing myself for my new job.

At my previous job I am paid peanuts but in there is my best friend, he had faced some pro and I wanted to come China to expose myself. So it is a stone killing 2 birds, I fulfilled my wish and my hunger.

But this new job I will try not to stay long, I still have a long way to go. This is waht I felt now.

I am tired but I cannot stop,
I am trying to stop but spirit is strong,
I am who I am trying to prove,
I cannot do anything that goes against my wish and faith I have in myself,
I will be strong and will not submit to defeat,
I will not admit defeat even though it seems a easier way out,
I will not take an easier way out because it makes me lazy,
I will not dishornour the name that my dad gave.

My life is blessed... Y I said that?

My family helped me when I am down and out, I have a good galfriend who refused to give up on me. I have a lot of good friends good do not wan to see me fall.

My pay now is nothing comparedto what I have heard, a manager earning SGD $1.6million per year. I view it as a challenge not as a goal, once I do that when I fall I will not get into shit.

Atfer reading thru the whole of this post again, i realise one thing. Good friend n partners are really hard to find. Do treasure them.
In fact i too went into the darkness moments of my life, life was in a mess.
That time still very young to handle it.. but i am really lucky (like u Oak) that my current bf never give me up. He was always there for me.. What he have done for me i will never ever forget....

Good for everyone that shares the same views with me. To find something good is hard to find your own direction is even harder.

For me I have my directions and I have moved into that direction now, I am still young compared to alot of people here. If there is a chance given to me I will prove to everyone that I am who I am, I need not answer to anyone at the end of the day expect to myself.

Find things that you really need and treasure them you nvr know when u might need it.

I am only 26 and I have been through a lot, I tell u my life story because I have fallen into shit before and I have climbed out.

I will now tell u the method....

1) Never admit lost until u have found no way.
2) Never say that you are good because there r people who r better.
3) Never stop learning.
4) Never say that life sucks because it have not.
5) When u r down to the bottom the only way out is to go up.
6) Everything is life exprience, do not look down on people.

My motto to survive is u need to have good friends and only good friends are the ones to support u. I learnt how people work and correct their mistake to make their merit into mine. I try to mingle around with people and change my habit from time to time.

Life is not all about money but rather investment, if u r willing to look beyond the line you have reached ur goal by half. I have lots of friends who cannot cross the barrier, they do not know how to invest in friends.

Thanks for all the concern from all bros who had given advise to me. I had finally paid off the fine of with the help of my buddies and my gal fren. I tried to ask that stupid judge to allow me to pay the fine in installment but guess what that fucker said? HE SAID I NEED TO PAY 95% OF MY FINE BEFORE HE WILL ALLOW ME TO PAY THE REST OF THE 5% WITH INSTALLMENT!!!!! I REALLY FEEL LIKE GIVING HIM A GOOD FUCK....IF I HAVE SO MUCH MONEY DO I STILL NEED TO ASK FOR INSTALLMENT???!!!!! Luckily i manage to raise the amount with the help of my dear frens and my gal fren ,or else i might be in the cage by now, forgive me for my dirty words bros, but i still want to curse ALL THE FUCKING JUDGES IN SINGAPORE AND HOPE THEY WILL ALL DIED OF TRAGIC DEATH AND GET FUCK IN THEIR ASS BY A DOG AND CURSE THEM TO HAVE A ROTTEN DICK AND CANT BONK FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.
